Valerie Charbit was quoted in today’s Times newspaper (30/09/21) discussing her latest kindness project in the wake of latest statistics showing barristers suffering from ‘burn out’ and a high rise in mental ill health.
For the last 7 years, Valerie has been a member of the The Bar Council’s working party for wellbeing and is only recently standing down as the Criminal Bar Association’s Director for Wellbeing, having held the position for 3 years. One of her final campaigns will be to launch a new Kindness project in collaboration with the CBA and South Eastern Circuit introducing kindness initiative workshops to instil “an ethos for the Bar”.
She said in The Times:
“Granted, it won’t solve issues with renumeration or listing….but it could allow us to enjoy work more and feel less stressed”
