February 18, 2025

Riel Karmy-Jones KC and Hannah Gladwell conclude the prosecution of Logan Burnett at Ipswich Crown Court. Logan Burnett was sentenced on the 17 February 2025 for the murder of Courtney Mitchell, and two counts of possessing the knives which he had used to kill her.

Logan Burnett had deliberately set out to find and kill Courtney Mitchell. Having found her, he chased her, and when he caught her pinned her against a fence before he viciously stabbed her in broad daylight in front of members of the public. The force used was such that he bent the blade of one of the knives during the stabbing. His actions were described by the Judge when passing sentence as ‘a personal execution.’ Courtney’s tragic murder came just 3 days before her 27th birthday.

Described by the Judge as obsessive and jealous; Logan Burnett received a sentence of life imprisonment with a minimum term of 23 years and 173 days.
