Kate Bex KC spoke with LBC’s Nick Ferrari this morning [Thursday 5th February] following the outcome of the trial of six Palestine Action protesters at Woolwich Crown Court.  All six were found not guilty of aggravated burglary and three were found not guilty of violent disorder.  The jury was unable to agree on verdicts on the other three protestors on the charge of violent disorder, in respect of all six protestors on the charge of criminal damage and in respect of the allegation that one of the protestors assaulted a police officer, breaking her back.  The six were part of a larger group of pro Palestine protestors who in 2024 broke into Elbit Systems, a UK subsidiary of an Israeli defence firm.

Kate analysed the verdicts; the jury was not sure that the defendants intended to use the items they carried as weapons to use violence against people as opposed to property.  There is likely to be a retrial on the counts on which the jury could not agree and 16 other members of the group will have their trials later in the year.
