Emma Gargitter secures conviction in Counter-Terrorism case

Emma Gargitter has secured the conviction of a 19 year old Leicester man who was convicted of four counts of disseminating terrorist publications, contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

After a week-long trial at Leicester Crown Court, the defendant was found guilty of disseminating terrorist material, having shared Islamic State propaganda videos within a Telegram chat group known as the ‘Mujahideen on the Digital Front’.

He was given a sentence of two years, consisting of a year’s detention and a year of additional licence under the sentencing provisions for offenders of particular concern.
