Westminster Commission concludes Inquiry into the CCRC

The Westminster Commission on Miscarriages of Justice was established by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Miscarriages of Justice (APPGMJ) with a brief to inquire into the work of the CCRC 25 years on from its creation.

The Commission’s Report, ‘In the Interests of Justice’, concludes that the CCRC structure, remit, lack of independence and resources compromise its ability to right alleged wrongful convictions.

RLC member Michelle Nelson QC was a member of the Commission which was co-chaired by Baroness Stern and Lord Garnier QC.
