Successful Defence of Attempted Murder

David Claxton, instructed by Michael Michael of TS Law Solicitors, appeared as sole junior in the successful defence of JA, who was acquitted of attempted murder by a jury at the Old Bailey on 17 February 2025.

JA was one of three young men, all of whom stood trial, who chased the victim in the late afternoon on Whalebone Lane South in Dagenham on 2 May 2024. The victim was shot with a sawn-off shotgun and suffered a stab injury from a machete-type knife. The injuries suffered were severe and he survived thanks to the prompt arrival of HEMS (air ambulance) and underwent extensive life-saving surgery at a hospital in east London.

The two other defendants were convicted of attempted murder. JA was convicted of lesser offences and the sentence of all three is listed in early April 2025.

David practices in serious crime, financial crime, health & safety and professional discipline. Read more: [David Claxton Profile ]
