Sara Lawson QC prosecuting in Health and Safety case

May 24, 2017

A worker climbed a ladder that was not properly secured resulting in him falling through an unguarded hole, through two floors.  As a result of the accident, the worker was paralysed from the waist down and died two years later.

The defendant who was responsible for the health and safety of the site is currently on trial for the health and safety failings.

Information relating to the safety of the site have been used to form part of the prosecution case.  For instance, the removal of the stair cases meant that the builders were required to climb ladders through one metre square openings in the floors in order to access upper floors.

The case continues.
