Sailesh Mehta successfully prosecuted a case on behalf of the Environment Agency against Thames Water Utilities Limited

the largest UK water company, with a turnover of £2 billion.  The Aylesbury Crown Court found a high level of negligence and sentenced the company to a fine and costs figure exceeding £700k.  Thames Water had polluted a stream in Maidenhead which flowed into the River Thames, putting between 10 and 30 million litres of sewage into the water.

This case comes after a fine of £2 million imposed by the Oxford Crown Court in January 2019 , which Sailesh also prosecuted.

This follows from a record fine of £20 million two years ago, which was also prosecuted by Sailesh Mehta.
