Sailesh Mehta has been invited to speak at the RISCAuthority Conference taking place this week on Wed 19 October.
Sailesh will host the plenary entitled “A Barrister’s view of the legal landscape post-Grenfell” and will round up the last year in fire safety law, including:
- the Grenfell Tower Inquiry
- prosecuting those who bear responsibility for the tragedy
- consider the implications of the removal of the Building Safety Manager role from the Building Safety Act
- coroners’ recommendations
- whether regulators are appropriately resourced under the current regime
RISCAuthority is an annually funded research scheme supported by a significant group of UK Insurers and part of the Fire Protection Association membership scheme.

Sailesh Mehta both prosecutes and defends in some of the most important regulatory cases involving health and safety, fire law and environmental law. He advises and represents the HSE and a number of fire brigades throughout the country, and a large proportion of his cases concern fatalities or near fatalities. He is head of the RLC Fire Law team.
