Red Lion Chambers introduces specialist Fire Law Team

April 26, 2021
Red Lion Chambers introduces its new Fire Law Team with specialists offering expert, business focussed, robust advice and advocacy. The Team represents corporations, company directors, UK fire and rescue authorities, as well as public and investigatory bodies.

The team which was originally set up in 2013 by RLC member Sailesh Mehta was the first set of Chambers to launch its own dedicated fire law team. Sailesh Mehta heads up the team with Lauren Sales, David Claxton, Nick Hall and Laura Jane Miller.

The Team offers a “one stop” service from the earliest stage of a case to the Court of Appeal, including:

• Strategic advice at an early stage
• Court representation in the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts
• Advice before charge
• Assistance with and representation at interviews
• Negotiating with the Fire Services
• Appeals against Notices
• Training

During the pandemic, the team produced a series of training Webinars for fire services which have been highly popular and widely attended. Members of the team have been invited to lecture in the UK and abroad on aspects of fire law and regulatory law and offer bespoke training for key members of organisations.
Members of the Fire Law Team have commented widely on the Grenfell Inquiry and have been interviewed by national and international media.

Sailesh Mehta said:

“I am delighted that after years of working within fire law we have a specialist team that is an industry leader. With our wealth of experience, we offer clear, timely, and effective advice and advocacy when our clients need it most.”
