The King has appointed Rosina Cottage KC to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Brandon Lewis CBE MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.
Rosina was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1988 and took silk in 2011. She was appointed as a Recorder in 2012. Her practice involved heavyweight prosecution and defence of multi handed cases of serious Sexual Offences, Murder, Manslaughter and Fraud, many of which were in the public eye, including the high-profile Max Clifford case.
Since 2006, RLC has seen 16 Crown Court and High Court Judge appointments. Additionally, 5 members have chaired the CBA, have been the Chief Coroner of England and Wales, the present Recorder of London, Director of RCPO and the SFO, General counsel to the SFO and the current Director of Public Prosecutions.
Joint Heads of Chambers Antony Shaw KC and Gillian Jones KC said: “We are delighted to hear this news and offer Rosina our congratulations, although her presence in Chambers will be sadly missed.”
Rosina will serve the South Eastern Circuit, based at Inner London Crown Court with effect from 31 October 2022.
