RLC has awarded Andrew Jones with the Conference Award at the end of the ICCA Bar Course validated by King’s College London. The awards which are given twice a year mark the end of each part of the ICCA Bar Course.
Andrew Jones discovered his passion for advocacy through participation in mooting competitions at the University of Warwick where he studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant but found himself drawn to the legal profession and decided to pursue a career as a barrister.
Seeking to further his advocacy skills, Andrew applied to the Inns of Court College of Advocacy Bar Course recognising it as the ideal platform for his career transition. Pleased with the course’s well-structured curriculum and excellent teaching, he immersed himself in the challenges of both Part 1 and Part 2 of the ICCA Bar Course, embracing the learning experience wholeheartedly. Whilst navigating the path to pupillage, Andrew is currently working for the legal charity Advocate.
Andrew said: “A highlight of my journey to the Bar has been winning the RLC Conference Prize where I was able to advise a person facing criminal charges. I had to establish the client’s version of events and provide insights into their case prospects and potential sentencing.”
Co-Head of Chambers, Gillian Jones KC said: “Andrew’s exemplary performance has seen him win this year’s prize. In addition, his dedication to the legal profession and commitment to excellence position him as a promising candidate in his pursuit of a career at the Bar. Everyone at Red Lion Chambers wishes him the best of luck.”
