Red Lion Chambers sponsors Legally Lifelong

Chambers is pleased to be sponsoring and partnering with Legally Lifelong to champion the wellbeing of criminal practitioners across every stage of their careers.

Legally Lifelong is a grass roots organisation dedicated to promoting mental health, resilience and professional wellbeing in criminal law. Through workshops, mentoring, peer-support networks and tailored resources, the organisation ensures that practitioners—from pupils to senior barristers—can thrive in a demanding profession while maintaining balance and sustainability in their careers.

Valerie Charbit, Director of Wellbeing in Chambers said:

“We are proud to support Legally Lifelong because the wellbeing of criminal practitioners is vital to the future of our profession. The pressures of criminal practice are immense, and this organisation is seeking to provide essential support to ensure colleagues can sustain long, fulfilling and healthy careers. Partnering with Legally Lifelong is a step towards furthering their mission and reflects RLC’s long term commitment to championing positive change and supporting those who practice at the Bar”

The founding trio of Legally Lifelong, Lucy Fegan-Earl, Morwenna Hocken and Tochi Ejimofo said:

“We are delighted to welcome Red Lion Chambers as a partner and sponsor. As a voluntary grassroots organisation, their support will enable us to broaden our reach across the Bar and deliver even more initiatives. Criminal practice is often perceived as a profession where resilience is expected without limit — with long hours, extensive travel and late nights forming part of daily life. Yet the reality is that many practitioners face pressures that can seriously affect their health, and these challenges are not always spoken about openly. Too often, individuals feel isolated when dealing with issues of mental or physical wellbeing and the notion of ‘poor health’ can carry stigma. As an organisation we are committed to breaking down that stigma, raising awareness and building a culture where wellbeing is prioritised and support is accessible to all.”
