Michael Goodwin KC and Hugh French represented Shaye Groves in a high profile case at Winchester Crown Court.
Ms Groves had been filmed planning an attack and later confessed to her friend that she had killed her boyfriend in his sleep.
The prosecution had branded Shaye Groves obsessed with serial killers, having stabbed her boyfriend in the neck and then more than 19 times in the heart and chest area.
In his sentencing remarks Mr. Justice Kerr KC set out that he accepted this had been “a crime of passion” and a lot of the evidence that had been presented in Ms. Groves’ defence, namely that she had been the victim of domestic violence at the hands of the deceased.

The case which had lasted 5 weeks, attracted much media interest nationally and abroad.
