Match Fixing charge overturned in Table Tennis Case

Max Baines represented Darius Knight, multiple national champion and Olympian, in his appeal against Table Tennis England. The Appeals Panel overturned the most serious charge of match fixing and reduced the sanction, recognising that betting on matches fixed by others does not itself constitute fixing.

A leading practitioner in the sports arena, Max is regularly instructed to represent athletes and sports’ governing bodies in disciplinary proceedings across a range of sports: https://redlionchambers.co.uk/barrister/max-baines/

Max was instructed by Hannah Clipston, (Litigation & Dispute Resolution Partner) and Dov Katz (Head of Sport and Partner) at Blake Morgan. The firm commented:

Blake Morgan’s Sports Law team worked tirelessly with Mr Knight and Mr Max Baines of Red Lion Chambers to ensure that Mr Knight’s position was fully and fairly represented throughout the Appeals process”
