Maleeka Bokhari joins International Bar Association Human Rights Institute Trust

Congratulations to Maleeka Bokhari who has been invited to join the Board of Trustees of the International Bar Association Human Rights Institute Trust (IBAHRI).

The IBAHRI Trust was set up in 2009 as the charitable arm of the International Bar Association, dedicated to promoting human rights, safeguarding the independence of the legal profession and advancing access to justice worldwide. Its Board of Trustees plays a vital role in guiding projects that strengthen the rule of law and protect fundamental freedoms.

Maleeka brings a wealth of expertise to this role. A former Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, she has served as Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice championing legislative reform and accountability. She has over a decade of legal practice in criminal litigation, constitutional law, anti-corruption and human rights, alongside international experience. Maleeka said:

The Trust’s work is global in scope, advancing human rights and strengthening the independence of the legal profession across continents. I have seen first‑hand how international collaboration is essential to building fairer, more resilient justice systems and I look forward to contributing to the Trust’s mission of promoting accountability and access to justice worldwide.”
