Life Sentence handed down in Suffolk Dog Walker case

Roy Barclay has been sentenced today (6th August) to life in prison with a minimum term of 25 years for the murder of Suffolk dog walker Anita Rose.

Chris Paxton KC and Matthew-Sorel Cameron were instructed in the case involving the fatal attack on the 57-year-old who was killed while walking her dog in Brantham, Suffolk, last July.

Anita Rose was found unconscious on 24 July 2024 and passed away in hospital on 28 July. She had been subjected to ‘numerous kicks, stamps and blows’ in a ‘vicious and brutal’ attack while she was out with her spaniel, Bruce.

Roy Barclay was charged with murder in October 2024 and was convicted of the murder at Ipswich Crown Court on 9th July 2025.

The case involved expert evidence in various fields including pathology, neuropathology, DNA analysis, facial and clothing imagery, and footwear analysis.
