Lessons from “Baby Reindeer” and the response to stalking – can we do better?

Following the Emmy Award winning Netflix Drama Baby Reindeer which spotlights themes of vulnerability, obsession, trauma and the long-lasting impact of stalking on victims, Claudia-Lauren Williams has written an article for New Law Journal which explores:

• how effectively the criminal justice system addresses stalking

• stalking specific legislation under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and discusses current investigative and evidential difficulties at play

• the use of Stalking Protection Orders and their limitations.

• the link between stalking behaviours and mental health disorders, the lack of evaluative research on stalking and treatment methods, as well as possible solutions.
