Kate Bex KC appears on LBC Radio

Kate Bex KC was interviewed by Nick Ferrari on LBC Radio on 30th April about manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, how difficult it is to establish and the prosecution’s responsibilities when faced with expert evidence of mental illness.

This follows news that Lee Byer has admitted to the manslaughter of Thomas O’Halloran in Greenford on the basis of diminished responsibility and possession of an offensive weapon. The 87 year old was travelling home on his mobility scooter when he was killed by Byer in August 2022 just 5 days after his release from prison. How he came to be released and with what mental health supervision is unclear. Byer is now in Broadmoor awaiting sentence on 10 May 2024.
