Jeremy Benson KC instructed in landmark cold case murder trial

Jeremy Benson KC was instructed to lead the defence of 92-year-old Ryland Headley for the rape and murder of Louisa Dunne, aged 75, in June 1967—believed to be the oldest cold case murder prosecution in England and Wales.

The trial involved complex evidential issues, including historic forensic analysis. The Defence called an independent forensic fingerprint examiner to support the Defendant’s case. The Court granted an intermediary to attend daily in recognition of the Defendant’s age and needs.
