Hugh French has represented a former Sussex Police investigator who had a sexual relationship with a vulnerable woman while on duty.
In mitigation, Hugh French submitted that Mr David Gamlin’s judgment was significantly impaired by personal challenges at the time including marital difficulties, caring responsibilities for elderly parents and the psychological impact of the Covid lockdown. The sentence was limited by a carefully drafted basis of plea and compelling mitigation.
Mr Gamlin was sentenced to 12 months in custody after pleading guilty to misconduct in public office.
