FCA 2020 roundup: Financial services enforcement in a time of Covid

THURSDAY 21 JANUARY 2021, 13.00-14.00

A webinar presented by Red Lion member Rebecca Chalkley and Tim Thomas, Director, Richardson Lissack

2020 was a year in which UK law enforcement activity was greatly diminished by the Global pandemic – and the FCA was no exception. But spread out across the year were a series of enforcement actions which were notable for demonstrating the cautious but more confident extension of the FCA’s remit.

This seminar will look at the following topics:

  • The Commerzbank final notice
  • FCA’s approach in MLR 2017
  • The failed prosecution of Vishynyak (s173 & s177 FSMA)
  • Joint investigations with CoLP and charging individuals with non-FSMA offences

A particular growth area in Tim’s practice is challenging financial institutions following the withdrawal of banking facilities and punitive referral to third parties.
