David Miller and David Claxton (led by Neil Hawes KC of Crucible Law) have been instructed in the Appeal of 70-year-old David Ames who was convicted of two counts of fraud by abuse of position between 2010 and 2015.
Both counsel represented Ames at trial and appeared in the Court of Appeal to renew an application for leave, which was successful in relation to both conviction and sentence.
David Miller has appeared in the Court of Appeal involving allegations of fraud against serving police officers. On a number of occasions he has been instructed by the Registrar of Criminal Appeals to advise on the merits of fresh appeals against old convictions where there is a suggestion of new evidence.
