David Etherington’s client acquitted in “Punch for Punch” case

David Etherington’s client was acquitted of unlawful act manslaughter on 28th July 2015 in the publicised “Punch for Punch” case at the Inner London Crown Court (R. v. B). This was a rare case where consensual horseplay between two friends in their twenties ended in sudden death. Evidence in the case involved the eminent cardio-pathologist, Professor Mary Sheppard, and relevant issues included complex questions of causation and intent.
