Dan Taylor secures not guilty verdicts in murder trial

Following an eight week trial at Northampton Crown Court, Dan Taylor, led by Naeem Mian KC, secured not guilty verdicts for Cameron Williams-Ferguson on charges of murder, aggravated burglary and armed robbery. Following guilty pleas from the first and third defendants to murder/robbery part-way through the defence cases, Mr Williams-Ferguson pleaded guilty to an offence of manslaughter on a limited factual basis.

The prosecution had alleged that on the night of 10 January 2025, Dan’s client was part of a “convoy of death”, comprising five armed men on e-bikes, responsible for a 40 minute spree of targeted violence, culminating in the murder of Ryan Burton in Spring Rise Park, Kettering. In what the prosecution contended amounted to a ‘dying declaration’, Mr Burton alleged that he had been attacked by six men in the park, “all armed with machetes”.

However, through a careful consideration of many hours of CCTV footage, cell-site evidence, focused applications for disclosure and cross-examination of prosecution witnesses/co-defendants, the defence team was able to undermine key pillars of the prosecution case against Dan’s client, including whether he was in the park at the time of the fatal assault. As a result, the prosecution offered no evidence on the allegation of aggravated burglary at the conclusion of the complainant’s evidence; not guilty verdicts were entered on allegations of murder and armed robbery on 19 November 2025.

Dan and Naeem were instructed by Aashar Malik of Woolfe and Co. Solicitors, Luton.

Dan has substantial experience of defending in cases of homicide and serious organised violence, particularly involving young people and/or alleged gang involvement.
