Having completed their pupillage, Chambers is delighted to congratulate and welcome Katie Bacon and Theo Burges as tenants to Chambers.

Katie Bacon appears for the prosecution and defence in all criminal matters in the Magistrates’ Court, Youth Court and Crown Court. She is a CPS Grade 2 panel advocate and has represented defendants at trial in a wide range of cases, including section 20 grievous bodily harm, possession of class A drugs, assault emergency worker and racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress. Prior to pupillage, Katie comes to the Bar from a strong academic background. She was awarded the Balliol College Jenkyns (Law) Prize for the highest marked Jurisprudence essay and completed the bar course with Distinction, achieving the (joint) top mark in Examination in Chief. Theo Burges regularly defends in a range of criminal matters in both the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court and prosecutes on behalf of the CPS as a Grade 2 panel advocate. He has developed particularly strong knowledge involving issues of automatism and insanity and has a specific interest in National Security and Espionage Law. Prior to pupillage, Theo worked at the Ministry of Defence advising on a variety of policy areas and taught British Parliamentary debating to vulnerable offenders at HMP Brixton as part of Vocalise.
