Blog: Reflections on Criminal Justice in 2025

In RLC’s latest blog, Vithyah Chelvam (Probationary Tenant) reflects on a recent lecture by Sir Max Hill KCB KC who offered compelling insights into how criminal justice policy is shaped—from government manifestos to judicial interpretation and grassroots campaigning. Drawing on his distinguished career as DPP, Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation and former Head of Red Lion Chambers, Sir Max also explored the lasting impact of Brexit and COVID on the justice system and the urgent need for transparency, reform and resilience.

This lecture was delivered as part of Cambridge University’s Institute of Criminology’s Michaelmas Term 2025 Public Seminar Series, marking Sir Max’s inaugural address as Radzinowicz Fellow.
