Aneurin Brewer secures victory in the Court of Appeal

February 3, 2025

Aneurin Brewer has successfully represented his client Mr. A in the Court of Appeal, securing a significant reduction in his sentence for possession of indecent images, possession of a paedophile manual and sexual communication with a child.

Having been initially refused leave to appeal by the Single Judge, Aneurin renewed the application for leave before the full Court of Appeal who granted leave and allowed the appeal.

Following detailed legal arguments, the Court reduced Aneurin’s client’s total sentence by eight months’, bringing it down to three years and four months.

The Court generously thanked Aneurin Brewer for “his very clear written advice and grounds and his succinct and helpful oral submissions which were measured, realistic, well-structured and helpful throughout.”

Aneurin is frequently instructed to give a second opinion on grounds of appeal against conviction and sentence on a referral basis. He regularly appears before the Court of Appeal on behalf of clients he has represented in proceedings before the lower Courts and on behalf of defendants previously represented by others.
