Alex Benn concludes money laundering trial with unanimous acquittals

Alex Benn appeared on behalf of a defendant charged with money laundering, arising from blackmail. The prosecution alleged that the defendant had channelled money from a fraudulent scheme set up through Instagram and Snapchat, with the blackmailers having threatened to release the user’s intimate photographs if the money were not paid.

After a three-day trial in the Crown Court’s ‘Nightingale court’ at Holborn, the jury unanimously acquitted the defendant of both counts.
