Trevor Archer instructed in £140m property fraud

Trevor Archer has been instructed to advise the SFO on their £140m property fraud probe into the Signature Group.

The investigation was publicly announced on Wednesday 21st Feb when search warrants were executed.

Four individuals have been apprehended as part of an investigation into an alleged £140m property fraud scheme linked to the company Signature Group. The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) spearheaded the operation, which saw three properties in Merseyside and Greater Manchester raided.

Signature Group, a Liverpool-based firm known for its portfolio of hotels in the city, entered administration in 2020, prompting scrutiny into its financial activities. Over 50 SFO investigators, supported by digital information specialists from the National Crime Agency (NCA), conducted the raids.

Notable properties within Signature Group’s portfolio included Millennium House in Liverpool, the Scottish Mutual Building in Belfast, and a cruise liner marketed as a ‘flotel,’ intended to be anchored off Canary Wharf in London and travel to Ibiza.
