Jessica Foster appeared on behalf of defendant, Mr Glenn Mullan, who had been charged with sending ‘chilling’ threats to kill Harry Potter author JK Rowling and Rosie Duffield MP. The messages were uploaded as audio clips and were sent to both women in Scottish Gaelic.
The defendant entered an early guilty plea, admitting two charges of sending a communication conveying a threatening message.
On 4th June at Westminster Magistrates Court, Mr. Mullan was handed down two eight-week prison sentences, suspended for two years, to be served concurrently.
The Judge also ordered Mr. Mullan to complete a 12-month community order, including 20 days rehabilitation activity and a requirement to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £154 victim surcharge.
Jessica was instructed by Evan Wright of JMW Solicitors.
Jessica joined Chambers as a first six pupil in October 2023 and is developing a practice in Crime, Sexual Offences and Serious Violence.
