Simon Spence QC successfully prosecutes in murder trial

June 18, 2017

Joe Storey was sentenced to life after he was found guilty of murdering his ex-partner, Kerri McAuley.

Storey first punched Ms McAuley in the face following an argument.   The jury were told of the severe facial injuries she suffered.  Pathologist Dr Benjamin Swift, who independently examined Ms McAuley’s body described “multiple facial fractures” that caused her lower jaw to come loose.  “The whole centre of her face had been driven inwards by nearly one centimetre,”

Judge Stephen Holt described Ms McAuley’s death as one of the worst cases of domestic violence Norwich Crown Court had seen.

Storey, who denied murdering Ms McAuley will serve a minimum sentence of 24 years.
