Simon Spence KC was interviewed by Times Radio discussing the impact on the Criminal Justice system following the departure of Justice Secretary Dominic Raab – the 10th Justice Secretary in 10 years.
Simon spoke about the underinvestment in the system and how huge backlogs have seen criminal barristers working under immense pressure leading to a high attrition rate. He commented that government need to take the criminal justice system seriously with proper care and concern coming from the top:
“The Criminal Justice System is one of the cornerstones of society and if it is not being taken seriously, then we have a major problem”.
