Simon joined former Chairman of the Justice Select Committee Sir Bob Neill KC (Hon) and ex-Prison Governor Vanessa Frake-Harris MBE ( who dealt with Myra Hindley, Rosemary West and others inside Britain’s most notorious jails) for a “Dig Deep” discussion with Carole Walker on Times Radio following the race riots across the UK last week.
Simon took part in a broad discussion around the criminal justice system which included offenders from the race riots being charged, prison populations, court backlogs and whether community interventions are more effective than short prison sentences. Listen from 01:37:55 [The Times]
Simon was also invited to provide commentary on LBC News around sentencing guidelines in cases of rape and sexual assault following a specific case alleged to have fuelled some of the sentiments that led to violence last week.
