Sailesh Mehta and Richard Beynon spoke at an Environmental Law Update Conference on 28th February 2025 attended by environmental lawyers.
The Conference was organised by David Jacobs, Barrister and Managing Director of The Legal Training Consultancy. David Travers KC Chaired the Conference. Other notable speakers were Nigel Pleming KC and Gerard Forlin KC, as well as Alex Goodman and Lois Lane.
Richard spoke about the wide range of environmental offences, in particular offences relating to land pollution.
Sailesh spoke about the sentencing regime, in particular relating to large companies [and their directors] that he prosecutes and defends. He gave his assessment of the future of sentencing in such cases, having analysed key cases over the last 10 years.
