RLC shortlisted for “Chambers of the Year”

January 17, 2022

Chambers are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for “Chambers of the Year” at the upcoming LexisNexis Awards 2022.

Winners will be announced at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, Park Lane on 30 March.

Launched in 2013, the Awards recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation across the legal sector. The “Chambers of the Year” award will be presented to a set of barristers’ chambers demonstrating outstanding performance in a particular area of practice in the UK. Chambers were also shortlisted for “Chambers of the Year” by LexisNexis Legal Awards in 2020.

Co-Heads of Chambers Gillian Jones QC and Tony Shaw QC said:

“We are delighted to start off the New Year with this wonderful news. Our members and staff have been working harder than ever through the pandemic facing daily challenges working within the Criminal Bar. Yet we have gone from strength to strength managing busy workloads and personal lives whilst balancing health and wellbeing. Our thanks go to Mark Bennett, our Practice Director, who has led our Clerk’s Room and staff with impeccable judgement and formidable leadership, and to all our members, staff and colleagues for continuing to give us their support.”

In 2021, RLC were awarded “Crime Set of The Year” at the Chambers UK Bar Awards. A leading set in criminal and regulatory law we are home to 107 barristers, including 25 Queen’s Counsel and 14 members who sit as a Recorder of the Crown Court. From 2020-2021 three of our members were appointed silk, following on from three members in 2019. In 2018, six of our members took silk, which is a record at the Bar in any set and in any sector of work. We continue to champion women at the Bar, promoting diversity through our outreach programme with ELBA and developing health and wellbeing initiatives throughout our membership.
