Christopher Paxton KC and Steven Ball have been instructed in the prosecution of Mark Cain, who has been charged with the murder of his wife, Dr Hannah Cain.
Dr Cain was known professionally as Dr Hannah Terry, was found at her home in Norfolk, close to the Sandringham Estate, in the early hours of 4 October 2026.

He has extensive experience in murder, manslaughter and serious violence, including homicide cases involving complex issues of pharmacology, psychopharmacology and psychiatry. Steven Ball is an experienced criminal practitioner who prosecutes and defends in a wide variety of serious cases, both as a leading and led junior. He is a Grade 4 advocate on the CPS General Crime and Serious Crime Panels and has extensive experience of serious and complex criminal proceedings. He is recognised as a Led Junior and Leading Junior in the 2026 Legal 500. Steven appeared for the prosecution at the defendant’s first Crown Court hearing at King’s Lynn Crown Court.
