Riel Karmy-Jones QC of Red Lion Chambers spoke at the National Strategic Modern Slavery meeting held in Devon on 10th June 2015.
The meeting focused on the challenges faced by those prosecuting modern slavery cases. Its aim was to improve ways of working and understanding between law enforcement and the wider criminal justice and judicial process. In addition to providing a platform for a panel of experts to come together to share their specialist knowledge and examples of best practice, it proved also to be an opportunity for further discussion to develop a cohesive approach between all key stakeholders within the prosecution process.
Riel Karmy-Jones was delighted to be able to bring her knowledge of and expertise in the prosecution of modern slavery. She and others helped to generate discussion about how to take forward the Home Secretary’s national strategy to tackle such crimes.
