Martin Filby

Martin Filby is Head of Fees. He joined Chambers in July 2014 and has more than 30 years’ specialist experience, having worked as a dedicated fees clerk since July 1993.

Martin oversees all aspects of members’ fees, including billing, fee regulations, claims, appeals, aged debt and payment reporting. Working closely with the Practice Director, senior practice management team, clerks and members, he supports the effective management of both publicly and privately funded work.

His responsibilities include maintaining accurate case records, overseeing timely billing and liaising with solicitors, courts and other external organisations on fee-related matters. He also oversees the supervision and development of the Fees Team.

Martin has extensive specialist knowledge of fee regulations and is regularly approached by colleagues from other sets, as well as instructing solicitors, for advice and guidance.
