Patricia Lynch QC appointed to the Circuit Bench, Chelmsford

Patricia Lynch QC, long-standing member of Red Lion Chambers, was appointed to be a Circuit Judge by HM the Queen on the advice of the Lord Chancellor. She is to sit at Chelmsford Crown Court from 26 June 2014 at the direction of the Lord Chief Justice. 
 
Patricia Lynch was called to the Bar in 1979 and took Silk in 1998. She is a highly experienced criminal advocate who has prosecuted and defended extensively. As a junior tenant, she was appointed to the Attorney General’s A-list, instructed to prosecute substantial drug importations and VAT fraud cases. In silk, she became recognised as one of the leading experts in matters involving children and other vulnerable witnesses and defendants. She was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1997 and as a Recorder in 2000.  She was regularly sought out to train the judiciary in aspects of sexual offences trials and vulnerable participants. Until her appointment to the Bench, Patricia continued to receive regular instructions in the most serious, complex and high-profile criminal cases.
