Jack Talbot and Caroline Baker have secured the conviction in a historic abuse case at a children’s care home in the 1970s.
Roland Simmons, a former teacher at Guestling House children’s home, has been convicted at Lewes Crown Court of indecent assaults committed against four boys in his care during the 1970s.
The prosecution case alleged that Simmons abused his position at the home to target vulnerable children placed into care. The jury heard evidence that he won one boy’s trust with gifts before sexually abusing him, while another complainant described waking to find Simmons abusing him as he slept.
Following trial, Simmons, now 77, was convicted in relation to all allegations and will be sentenced on 22 June.
Jack Talbot and Caroline Baker prosecuted the case.
