Gillian Jones KC: Financial Crime Silk of the Year

Congratulations to our Co- Head of Chambers, Gillian Jones KC who has, this evening, been announced as the Financial Crime Silk of the Year at the Legal 500 Awards.

A specialist in financial crime, serious fraud, asset forfeiture and private prosecutions, Gillian Jones KC secured the conviction of 42-year-old Wen Jian at Southwark Crown Court earlier this year for laundering criminal property through Bitcoin following the largest seizure of cryptocurrency in the UK. In 2023, she was instructed privately to defend the “Wolf of Wall Street” Anthony Constantinou a high-profile individual who was alleged to have used a corporate vehicle to attract investors to part with over £50m in a Ponzi Scheme involving the BVI and Cayman Islands. In addition, she has also acted on behalf of a High Net Worth Singaporean family to advise as to whether to bring a private prosecution in respect of a UK family member who was alleged to have engaged in a multi-faceted, fraudulent and deceptive course of conduct to the tune of £50m+.
