Former Essex Police officer convicted of sexual assault

Matthew Sorel-Cameron has secured convictions against a former Essex police officer Steven Tissier for sexual assault and voyeurism. The jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts on Thursday 15th February.

The former officer, 37, was alleged to have carried out the offences at a property in Boreham whilst off duty; the first assault occurred when the victim was asleep.
He filmed this assault and shared the footage of it with a fellow police officer.

The investigation began after the assaults were reported in March 2022.

The trial took place at Chelmsford Crown Court and lasted 8 days. Mathew was instructed by Jane Foster of the Crown Prosecution Service.
