Shortlisted for ‘Barrister of the Year’ by the Lawyer Awards 2020, Allison Clare QC was invited to talk about her cases this year in a video presentation. One of the largest landmark cases of the year included Allison acting as part of the SFO Counsel team in the Airbus SE Deferred Prosecution Agreement. The conviction followed a 4-year investigation across multiple jurisdictions including working closely with the US and French authorities resulting in a 3.6 billion euro global corruption settlement, making it the world’s largest ever resolution for bribery.
Specialising in complex fraud, money laundering and corruption, Allison has previously acted in the ICBC Standard Bank and Rolls Royce Deferred Prosecution Agreements. Other recent cases include representing two suspects in one of the largest SFO investigations into corruption and advising a UK plc on corporate liability for money laundering offences.
Outside the Bar, Allison spoke about her role as a mum to 3 daughters and her support for diversity and inclusion at the Bar including participation in the Young Citizens Mock Trial competitions and offering informal work experience for pupils from non-selective schools in her local area.
‘Barrister of the Year’ will be announced at the Virtual Awards ceremony on Tuesday 3rd November.
