
In response to the Government’s Youth Justice White Paper, “Cutting Youth Crime, Changing Young Lives” Tim Kiely reflects on the direction of youth justice reform under the current Government.
Writing for Solicitors Journal, he notes that the White Paper places a strong emphasis on early intervention, court reform, an evidence led approach and acknowledges that it contains a number of welcome proposals aimed at improving outcomes for children and reducing youth offending.
However, while the reforms are positive in intent, Tim questions how far they will translate into genuinely evidence led change in practice.
