The panel discussed legal and political challenges to international accountability in light of the ICC jurisdiction decision, the FFM report and the establishment of the OIM.
The panel consisted of:
Ambassador Stephen Rapp, former US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice and Former Chief Prosecutor, Special Court for Sierra Leone.
Nina Tavakoli, Barrister, Red Lion Chambers, specialising in international criminal law and member of UK’s independent team of experts on sexual violence in conflict (PSVI).
Dr Chaloka Beyani, Associate Professor of International Law, LSE and former United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons.
Dr Champa Patel, Head of Asia- Pacific Programme, Chatham House.
Steve Ainsworth, Senior Conflict and Stabilisation Adviser in the UK Government’s Stabilisation Unit (former DFID Conflict Advisor in Myanmar focusing on Rakhine).
