Following a two and half week trial at Basildon Crown Court, Gerard Pounder and Matthew Sorel-Cameron secured convictions of two defendants accused of a high speed shooting on Canvey Island, Essex. In the early hours of the morning the defendants engaged in a high speed pursuit through the streets of Canvey Island. They chased a car with four men inside, and repeatedly discharged a sawn-off shotgun at it, riddling the car with shotgun pellets, injuring three of the occupants and disabling the car. The car in which the defendants had been driving was abandoned and torched a couple of hours later. Both defendants received 11 years imprisonment.
