Clean Break has launched its inaugural online Film Festival which will run from 23 September to 6 October celebrating authentic and challenging stories told through short films that raise important questions, provoke debate, and inspire meaningful change. The Film Festival will be hosted on Clean Break’s Knowledge Hub and is developed with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies Digital Accelerator Programme: [Clean Break Film Festival 2024]
RLC members Valerie Charbit, Zoë Chapman and Francesca Kirby were invited by the Festival to review and reflect on the powerful films featured in this year’s programme, providing unique perspectives on the topics of justice, gender and the criminal justice system. Members reviewed short films: Home, Sweatbox, Our Home The Sea and After Time: [Barrister film reviews ]
Gillian Jones KC, Co-Head of Chambers who also sits on the Development Board at Clean Break commented: “Chambers are committed to supporting charitable initiatives like Clean Break, which play an invaluable role in helping women with lived experiences of the criminal justice system to rebuild their lives through the arts. These short films highlight the resilience of individuals and communities and explore crucial issues that are often overlooked shining a light on the transformative power of storytelling through film.”
