    Personal profile

    Jessica joined Chambers in October 2023.

    During her first six, Jessica developed a strong foundation in prosecution work. She assisted her supervisor, Serena Gates, in drafting advices on unduly lenient sentences. Jessica also completed research work for other members of Chambers, including assisting a Silk on a successful half-time submission on the proper application of accessorial liability to insider dealing.

    As a second six pupil, Jessica appears for the prosecution and defence in matters across all areas of General Crime in the Youth Court, Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court. She prosecutes at CPS Grade 1.

    Before coming to the Bar, Jessica volunteered for The Witness Service in Manchester Crown Court. She led pre-trial visits for prosecution witnesses and provided practical and emotional support through the trial process.

    Jessica has also demonstrated a strong commitment to improving social mobility through her previous work for the educational charities The Tutor Trust and Debate Mate.

    Crime

    Jessica is instructed to prosecute and defend in all areas of crime.

    Featured Cases:

    • R v T (2024) – Secured a 12 month suspended sentence with requirements for a defendant charged with three offences, including ABH aggravated by hostility based on sexual orientation.

    • R v C (2024) – Successfully applied to the court for the name of the defendant’s estate to be withheld from the public in future reporting of the case.

    • R v M (2024) – Secured an 8 week suspended sentence with requirements for a high-profile malicious communications case involving JK Rowling and Rosie Duffield MP. [Report]

    • R v RA (2024) – Successfully argued an appeal against sentence in that the sentences imposed should be concurrent, securing a reduction of 100 days from the defendant’s term of imprisonment.
